I was reminded at a recent retreat of the power and support of having a group of like minded women coming together to share their challenges and wisdom. You could almost hear an inaudible sigh as women nodded in recognition of the problems and resolutions that were shared.
How often do we feel alone and isolated as women when challenges inevitably show up and take our breath away? Certainly, during transition periods such as marriage, parenthood, starting careers, retirement, empty nest and retirement. But, also the day to day problems such as dealing with teenagers, aging parents, marital discord or job issues to name a few. Often, we stay silent in shame over our inability to solve what we perceive as our failings. However, when we “Dare Greatly” (as Brene Brown says) and bravely voice our concerns to a like minded group of friends or retreat participants, the empathy and wisdom that is given is astounding.
Do you stay silent or do you Dare Greatly to share with a trusted friend or a group?
